Yuvraj Singh is making steady progress and is expected to take part in India’s opener against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy, while Rohit Sharma is yet to join the squad
Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of India’s warm-up tie against New Zealand on Sunday due to viral fever, ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy which begins on June 1, while teammate Rohit Sharma will also be unavailable for the game as he is yet to join the squad.
“The BCCI medical team confirms that Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh who is presently down with viral fever is making steady progress. There are no major health concerns and he is recuperating well, to the satisfaction of the medical team,” said a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement on Saturday.
India will start their Group B campaign at the ICC Champions Trophy against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 4 at Edgbaston before taking on Sri Lanka on June 8 and South Africa on June 11 in the eight-nation tournament. The last two games will take place at The Oval.
